OPEN HOUSE

Stop by our annual Open House to celebrate the opening of our new bakery location!

There will be lots of free fun for all ages . . .

and a bounce house (weather permitting)

We’re designing a custom face-board for silly photographs young and old!

You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the amazing Mr. Sprinkles and sweet Queen Frostine.

We will have our retail shop and cafe open, stocked full with our classic products as well as several new additions (read: Red Velvet, Apple Cinnamon Caramel, and/or Cookie Dough Colossal cupcakes)! We are featuring Pittsford Farms Dairy fresh milk (adorable pint size!) in skim, 2%, and real chocolate.

There is plenty of parking in our lot (shared with Ciccone Dentistry) as well as the adjoining public parking area. You are also welcome to park on the street or behind the Penfield Fire Dept. near the Heritage Park (we asked).

This time, there will be plenty of room inside as our new space is nearly triple the size!

Bring the whole family (we love grandparents and kids!), and invite all your friends.

New Shop opens Wednesday Oct. 19

After about eight long and crazy weeks of being closed, while moving the bakery, we are finally set to reopen this coming Wednesday Oct. 19! We will resume our regular business hours of 10:00am - 6:00pm Wednesdays through Saturdays.

It has been so encouraging to have many unexpected visitors track us down in spite of our sudden move! We truly have been blown away by the tremendous community support and all of you who have continued to stay in touch. We are really looking forward to being back on track and baking up fresh delicious (and new!) desserts that will be a hit with your family and friends.

We are planning a fantastic Open House event which will last all day Saturday Nov. 12. Oh boy. It’s going to be great! You can go to our Facebook page for details, or check back here shortly.

UPDATE: New Location

We’ve got big things happening here at the Upper Crust Cakery! We received notice in mid-August that we had to vacate our Penfield Road location, by the end of the month. Although quite unexpected, we now have everything moved into a wonderful new space, less than a quarter-mile away! Our new shop is at 2094 Five Mile Line Road, in the same building as Ciccone Dentistry. It is about one block north of Rt. 441 (Penfield Road), on the right-hand (east) side. As well as having ample public parking, it will be much easier to see the Cakery from the road and navigate two-lane traffic as opposed to four-lane.

We realize many of you have stopped by the previous spot to find us closed or seemingly disappeared. We would have much preferred to give you advance notice and information, but unfortunately the circumstances were beyond our control. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope you aren’t experiencing any severe cupcake-withdrawal symptoms. We’ll be baking again soon!

We are still unpacking and setting up at the new spot, so don’t swing by quite yet! As usual, we will continue to accommodate advance special-orders (such as birthdays, showers, weddings). Although somewhat delayed in our email/voicemail response time (due to the move), we should be able to accommodate orders for most upcoming weekends starting the weekend of Fri Sept 16. We’ll have a similar (and eventually larger!) retail display case with items available for on-the-spot purchase. We anticipate establishing an eat-in cafe area with hot drinks as well! Once settled in and reorganized, we’d like to host a smashing all-day Open House and you’ll all be invited! You can check our Facebook page for the most recent updates.

Our sincerest thanks to our loyal clients, friends, family, and the Penfield community, who have all been extremely supportive. (”Gary the mailman” was the first person to apprise us of the space we now occupy!) We have been truly astonished at the heartfelt enthusiasm for our business from all of you. We appreciate it so much, and thank you. We’re very much looking forward to having you visit our new spot soon.

P.S. One other exciting piece of cake news: just before learning we must vacate, we had a call from the Food Network’s “CUPCAKE WARS” casting department. They requested an audition film from us, which we quickly put together and sent in. We now wait for a call to see if the producers think us battle-worthy. You can view our audition here.

We are currently CLOSED due to vacation, AND our unexpected-but-exciting location move to another spot in Penfield 4 Corners! (Just a few blocks away, but we’re still In process so exact address to be announced soon.)

Although closed, we are checking our emails and voicemail, and we will
respond as soon as possible. We anticipate reopening in time for next
weekend (Sat Sept 3). Thanks for your patience! We have been blown away by the tremendous community support from our friends and clients. Thank you so much.

The Upper Crust Cakery

Open House

this Saturday, November 20

8:00am - 6:00pm

Come visit us for the unveiling of our new location! After several months of remodeling, painting, and planning, we are finally set to open the shop this weekend. The cakery will be open all day, so stop by anytime. Bring your family and friends for free cupcakes and hot coffee. We’ll have balloons for the kids and some awesome cake giveaways! You’re also welcome to browse our display cases and purchase something to take home and enjoy.

We will continue to take advance special orders as before. In addition, the storefront will be open to the general public. Our retail hours will be Wednesdays through Saturdays 8:00am-6:00pm (beginning Saturday Nov. 20). We are closed on Sundays and Mondays, and by-appointment-only on Tuesdays. Next week, however, is Thanksgiving and so our special holiday schedule will be Monday through Wednesday, and Friday through Saturday (closed on Thanksgiving Day).

Our new shop is located at 1793 Penfield Road (south-side of Rt. 441) in Penfield 4 Corners. It’s a little light-brown building directly in between Joey’s Pasta House and the new Joey’s Party House. We share the parking lot there and there are plenty of spots. You can turn directly off Rt. 441 into the driveway. OR, take the “secret entrance” by turning off Five-Mile-Line-Road onto Mott’s Lane, which runs behind all the businesses and connects to the parking lots.

We have some very fun options for spontaneous walk-in clients, that will be available at all times. Our display cases contain a variety of delicious items ready for on-the-spot purchase, including 10 over-the-top flavors of jumbo cupcakes, our famous cut-out butter cookies, and chocolate-fudge and peppermint-frosted brownies just to name a few. [There is a subsequent post coming with complete item and price list of our retail products.]

Thank you for your continued patronage and enthusiasm for the Upper Crust Cakery. We are so excited to have a new presence in the Penfield community, and we look forward to unveiling it this weekend. Mark your calendar to stop by this Saturday!

Big News!

We are very excited to share some big news with you: WE’RE MOVING! After experiencing over 4 successful years at our Harris Road location, it is time to establish a more pronounced presence in the community. Our new shop will be located in the Penfield 4 Corners area, in the building formerly known as the “Sugar Shack” ice cream parlor. It is right on Penfield Road/Route 441, next to Joey’s Pasta House. We hope this will be more convenient to our network of clients, as it is more central and only about 4 minutes from Route 490.

Don’t come visit us yet, though! We’re currently in the remodeling stages, which will continue for several more weeks. We are planning an awesome Open House event in mid-October, when our remodel is complete. So stay tuned! If you are on our mailing list, you will receive further information or you can check back here on our website.

We will continue taking special orders as before, but we are also planning some very fun options for spontaneous walk-in clients! We will have several display cases with different items available for on-the-spot purchase: 10 over-the-top flavors of jumbo cupcakes, our famous cut-out cookies for sure, and perhaps some other options as well. It will have a little NYC-Crumbs-Bakeshop feel (see picture below), as they have been part of our inspiration.

Special orders will be available for pickup as usual, by-appointment-only Mondays - Saturdays. In addition, the shop will be open to the public Fridays and Saturdays (exact hours to be determined). We will be closed on Sundays.

Happy Independence Day Weekend!

Whew! We were quite busy in June due to cake requests for graduations, birthdays, showers, and other special summer events. Thank you for your continued support of the Upper Crust bakery! We are so grateful for the [sometimes overwhelming, in the best possible sense!] enthusiasm and request of our products. We look forward to continue making delicious and beautiful cakes, that make your special day even more memorable.
